Chrome plated carbon steel with 5 pinned pakka wood handle and original box. Semi flex blade has all caps pre 1960's KA-BAR logo suggesting late 40's or 1950's manufacture. 

Chome plating carbon steel was a popular solution to maintaining the high quality cutting edge of carbon steel but with an easier to look after stainless surface. It fell out of favor as stainless steel improved.
