Vintage pre-WW2 F Dick sharpening steel in good condition. The arrow changed direction from facing the handle to facing away from the handle after the war, this one is in good condition for a steel of its age. The steel itself is free from nicks and rust, the handle shows wear to the  nickel plated brass and the stag has mellowed with washing and exposure to handling.

F Dick steels are and were some of the best European sharpening steels, tempered harder than most and able to both last a very long time and also work on harder steels more reliably. This steel will work to hone many double bevel signel steel Japanese knives (provided the steel is around 63 or less) and will work wonders on Western knives. 

Steel has mellowed a bit with use and will not take off enough metal re bring back a very dull knife but will quickly realign a slightly flagging edge.
